For dentures to be precision (equilibrated) dentures, it requires that precision measurements be taken in relationship to the patient’s temporal mandibular joint. The upper and lower denture is fabricated to simulate as close as possible the jaw movements of the patient. This is achieved by using a precision articulator (like a mechanical jaw), doing a face bow transfer, and using cusp teeth by setting them in balance to maximize stability and efficiency.
